thanksgiving
its all about family
i dont have many outstanding thanksgiving memories,
but i do remember this one year...
it was the year papa got diagnosed with stage four cancer.
we were all sitting around the table.
it was just mom, dad, papa, corinne, and me.
usually we have grandma and the aunties,
but grandma was at mary's house and
the aunties were at laura's.
so it was the five of us.
the five that always live there,
we always see each other,
no one got dressed up,
but as usual,
my mom worked her ass off all day
to make a big thanksgiving dinner.
so since thanksgiving and christmas
are the only times we pray before
we eat,
we prayed.
its always annoying trying to find someone
to say a corny thanksgiving prayer.
so after me and corinne said that we werent gonna,
my mom did.
happily.
we were about to eat when my grandpa
said he wanted to
say something.
he isnt a big
prayer.
he usually is already eating
when we say grace,
so we were alittle suprised.
then he something that will stick
in my mind forever.
then he started crying.
and we all thought that was the last thanksgiving with him.
that was 4 years ago
and i could remember it like it happened yesterday.
i remember what everyone was wearing,
i remember the table cloth,
i remember the weather,
i remember the words,
the face,
the emotions.
i remember everything so clearly.
this thanksgiving is going to be perfect
mom, dad, papa, corinne, the aunties and billy
im sure, there wont be many more like this one.
ill try to remember everything.
